Day 21: 3004 Views & Report Cards

Well it’s official, I hit over 3000 views yesterday. It’s kind of cool knowing that my work has been viewed over 3000 times. I’ve been working on my writing lately; well not really… more like story writing and really verbose ways of saying you’re awesome in my report cards. It’s all about the word count! Ha ha! I am enjoying our Fall break and actually spent all of yesterday with my family and left my report cards on the back burner as my priority really was sharpening the saw and family wellness. Today, I got a good start on them and am now a quarter of the way there. I usually do them over 8 days, but I am feeling the need to do them over 4 instead, therefore utilizing my time more efficiently and really achieving a break over the next few days. Today we welcomed the freezing rain, and my daughter scored an all time high of 143 for her bowling debut. The coach asked us to consider stepping into the coaching roles and I am seriously considering it, I might even join the league. Oh the possibilities!

Day 13: Strikes, Spares And Moose Jobs

Today we took the kids to a Halloween bowling party with their league. It was a lot of fun, I wish more kids had come though. My children both ended up taking prizes home for their costumes; one of them being a 5 lb box of the World’s Finest Chocolates. I’m sure it’ll take at least all year, or maybe 6 months to get through it. It was very generous on the bowling alley’s behalf. I will be sure to forward them the cavity bills from the dentist, ha ha!

We also took in the hockey game last night. The Rebels did not disappoint; taking down the Moosejaw Warriors 5-1. I was a little put off by first period as it was so sloooooooooooooow but then it picked up during the last five minutes of the first period with the Rebels scoring their first goal. Period 2 was definitely perkier, as Moosejaw decided to come back with a goal of their own, only to be shut down yet again with 3 more goals by the end of the 2nd period by the Rebels.

My children, especially my son, enjoyed cheering for the Moosejobs or Moosies, but alas it was not their time to shine. During the third, they tried to keep up with the shots on goal, but Red Deer scored again, taking home the victory of 5 -1. We tried to win the 50 / 50 draw of a cool $7500 but some lucky Red Deerian got to take it home instead, so my husband appeased me with a hot chocolate and my spirits were lifted, as well as warmed.

It was definitely a good weekend. I’m thankful to my parents for gifting us their season tickets as well as letting us stay in their warm home, for the multitude of gutter balls that I threw today and for the ability to be able to write and share my joy of writing with you.

Day 3: Abundance of Turkeys & Bowling Balls

Thanksgiving is upon us in the next 48 hours, as is my sister turning 30 tonight at midnight. I am thankful to have her as she is my only sibling and I can’t imagine not having her in my life. Happy birthday Jess!

Today we also had a wonderful turkey dinner, care of my awesome co-worker who took it upon herself to cook for the entire grade 1 clan! 80 grade 1 students were ecstatic, as was I to see their happy faces and to listen to them chow down in silence.

When we give of ourselves, we are sharing of our spirit and the feeling is electric. It has such a powerful domino like effect that nothing negative can touch it. Though it might try, when we choose to feel only love; only love will be found. I am greatful for her kindness and her hard work. She is truly an asset to our school.

I am greatful that I get to sleep in a bit tomorrow, although bowling is calling us in the morning and I am getting a kick out of watching my children get better and better each time. We must have some serious bowler genes in our lineage and I look forward to cheering them on.

My last thought of happiness for the moment is the joy of riding a bicycle. My children convinced me that it would be much more fun to ride to the rocket ship playground as we would get more play time if we rode rather than walked. It’s amazing watching them ride, with bottles stuck in the tires, sounding like roaring dirt bikes down the road. Their giggles are contagious, as is their love to have me watch them with their latest achievement and accomplishment on the playground. I have to remind myself that they are only little once and there will come a time when they won’t want to ride to the playground. I know when that happens my heart will break a little that day. But for now, I will treasure these moments and grab on to them as much as I can.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Be kind to each other, eat muchly and enjoy eachother’s company.

Talent Shows & Penpals

Well we had our Talent Show this morning. I must say it keeps on getting better and better. This year we had a variety of acts that showed a multitude of skill and diversity. I was most impressed with a little grade 1 student whose performance stole the show. It’s amazing how a little person can have so much courage, and yet be a leader when they are 6. He will definitely be a front runner for next years show.

We also had our penpals from Edmonton come and visit. It was amazing having them come and look at our school. Our Cree cultural advisor did an amazing job organizing activities for the kids and a great time was had by all. My penpal’s teacher commented on how the kids loved coming and enjoyed learning how to say thank-you; ay-hay, in Cree.

I managed to also get my cumes done tonight, as well as morning plans for tomorrow. I get to go bowling with Bethany’s class tomorrow morning and I’m excited to finally be a part of her class.

It’s hard being a teacher, as well as a parent, as I don’t always have the time allotted to me to be able to join her on her adventures with her class. I know tomorrow will be awesome though.

Only three days left with my students. I know it will be memorable!
